The Baldwin Park High School Braves’ Entertainment Corps is the group that performs during the fall semester. The corps can be heard at football games, pep rallies, and tournaments. The group is made up of grades 9-12. Marching season runs from early May through mid November. Students within this ensemble gain a lifelong appreciation for the arts…and most importantly, have a great deal of fun doing so!
The Color Guard at Baldwin Park High School is a part of the marching band and music program. This unit is comprised of marching band members who add visual impact and color to the musical performance in a challenging activity that combines equipment work with dancing and marching.
By using flags, sabres, rifles, swing flags, and other pieces of equipment pertaining to the music, as well as a mix of ballet, jazz, modern, and contemporary modern dance, the color guard interprets the music into a stunning visual element.
The Percussion Ensemble consists of the marching percussion (also called battery) and front ensemble (also called pit) sections of a marching band.
In the Fall, Percussion is part of the BPHS Braves’ Entertainment Corps, where they have consistently achieved high Percussion scores in SCSBOA competitions.
During 2nd Semester, the Percussion Ensemble competes in the SC-PA circuit for their indoor season.
The Baldwin Park High School Wind Ensemble performs at local festivals, concerts, and much more. The Wind Ensemble consists of the top players in the BPHS Music Program and perform advanced level high school literature as well as some college level literature. The BPHS Wind Ensemble performs each year at Music Festivals where they are rated on their performance and on sight reading. In the performance portion of the event the group prepares 2-3 selections (depending on level) and performs them for the audience and the judges. In the sight reading portion of the event the group is given a piece of music they are seeing for the first time and expected to perform it at a high level.
The Baldwin Park High School Concert Band performs at local festivals, concerts, and much more. The Concert Band is a general population group that performs high school level literature. The Concert Band performs each year at Music Festivals where they are rated on their performance and on sight reading. In the performance portion of the event this group prepares 2-3 selections (depending on level) and performs them for the audience and the judges. In the sight reading portion of the event this group is given a piece of music they are seeing for the first time and expected to perform it at a high level.
The BPHS Jazz Ensemble is a group skilled in the art of jazz and improvisation. They perform throughout the year at fundraisers, award ceremonies, concerts, open houses, and various other events.
